Product Description

Books;Non Christian Literature;Non Fiction;Home & Garden

Jean MacAlpine's Inn was one of the most famous buildings in Scotland in the first half of the 20thCentury. Like so many buildings of historical interest the Inn was left to wrack and ruin until the Seabrooks happened upon it. Its fame is centered on Rob Roy who was a living a troublesome soul, in the middle of the 18thCentury. So troublesome that the English had to garrison troops in Inversnaid to keep Rob and his 'friends' in check. Within the pages of this book you will share in the joy of restoring this building and the rebirth of the original skills used to first build it. You will also learn how to restore a stone built building, thatch a roof the traditional way and so much more.

Their efforts attracted an invitation to the Queen’s Garden Party at Holyrood Palace and a Prince of Wales Award entry in 1994. Sam & Maggie spoke to Prince Philip, but did not win the award. However the fulfilment of the journey of their retirement project was all the reward they needed. Join them and their wonderful friends, family and supporters who helped them to restore the Inn to its former glory.
