Utterly Delightful

What a delightful take on toddler tantrums and bath-time. I think the story is light and funny with enough areas of interest to keep all children within the reading ages and beyond engaged. I found the illustrations vibrant and very clever in the way the additional details add the unwritten areas of the story. The author has really brought our the humour in what can actually be quite a trying time for all involved. Please note that I have read and advanced reading copy of the printed hardcover edition. The additional cool fact about twins and the colouring sheets are a unique and inspired touch! I strongly recommend this one and hope that there will be more future antics from The Roper Twins.

Fun and Charming

This book is Cauline's first step into children's literature and I think she's done a good job in creating a short, simple book that can be read to your young child before bedtime. This book is aimed at 0-5-year-olds and is such a fun read! One-year- olds Courtney and Jade Roper are twins: like nearly all twins they are double the joy and double the trouble. Unlike some twins the Roper Twins love doing things together. They especially love Bath-Times where they have lots and lots of fun. However when one day Nan decides it’s time for a change Courtney and Jade, have other ideas. Join the Roper Twins as they go into battle with Nan in this delightful, engaging and funny look at parenting, everyday life and growing up. The first thing I noticed about this book is that it portrays black characters (the Nan, Dad and the twins.) I think it is so important for children at such a young age to witness different skin colours in a positive environment and also for representation! The Mother of the twins is white which also means that mixed-race relationships are positive and being a biracial child DOESN'T make you an outcast. This book doesn't scream amazing to me, though. It's very repetitive and I can imagine a child getting slightly bored of the same words towards the end. Repetition at the beginning of a book is always good because the child can get to grips with the story, but when it is all the way through, it can make it boring to read for both child and adult. Moaning aside, I thought the book was a brilliant concept as it portrays the twins in an everyday situation: bath time and I know that this is a situation that not all children love, so young children can also relate to the twins on this level. The design of the book is also very eye-catching and the illustrations are amazing; so these will also keep your child intrigued as they have a lot to look at whilst listening to you read to them! This was such a fun book to read and even though it got slightly repetitive towards the end, I think this will be a good book to read to your youngsters before bedtime! Released June 2017 Available to pre-order from March 2017

Roper Twins - Good Fun

The Roper Twins is a worthy addition to the “young children in your life’s” library. It is very accessible to the children and is fun for the adult reader. Mischief, problem solving and mayhem abound in a story told in a straightforward and direct way. Good old Nan eventually get the twins washed but, hey! like life it’s a challenge! I’m happy to recommend this little gem to you and your children.

This book is hilarious

As a parent of twins, this was an accurate and hilarious read.My daughters in particular were far more advanced that most children at that age,you could say my daughters are the Roper Twins.I cant wait for the next instalment. For learning children this is a must read (unless your child is Dexter i dont expect them to read it themselves lol) and a great gift for younger family members.

Creative and colourful

Whilst I often do a throwback review of books of my childhood they tend to be aimed at aged 10+ rather than ages 0-5, but with my own little cub due in 15 weeks I should probably get use to this style. Whilst they say don’t judge a book by its cover, I know it’s something I'm guilty of. The Roper Twins has an eye catching bright and colourful cover. You can tell immediately that the story is going to be full of mischief and fun just by the look on the girls’ faces. The fun and creative design continues throughout the book. I really liked the use of shaped word bubbles for the text, especially those that were reflective of words in the story. If reading with your children is as much about advancement as enjoyment looking at the shapes and words seems like a great learning experience to me. As far as the story goes, it’s simple and as expected full of mischief. I’m sure any little ones having this read to them will giggle away as they relate to idea of running away, hiding and screaming when they don’t get their own way. A fun story I'm sure lots of children will enjoy having read to them.

An Enjoyable Read

I loved this book, a very heartwarming book to enjoy with Children. Cauline really knows how to write in such a way that when you reach the end of the book, you will wish it carried on and on. The children in my life loved this book and had lots of giggles while reading it, my little cousin really liked this book and wanted to read it again and again! You won't regret picking up this book, it's a great read for the little ones (and adults too!)

A Wonderful Little Book

What a wonderful little book! I really enjoyed reading all about the Roper Twins and their bath time battles with Nan! I think that the book is very relatable - anyone with a toddler will be able to identify with the antics of the twins as they go about their routines in not quite the way Nan intends for them. It also shows the way they adjust to something new and go from fighting against it, to discovering how to enjoy the new "place" they are in. Nan also has to try and work out what is best for the twins and finally makes that step that she is cautious about, considering their Dad did not enjoy his big baths. Nan takes the plunge (no pun intended) and puts the twins in the big bath which even though they resist at first, thye soon discover all the fun and mischief they can get up to! Being the mother of a very active, now 5 year old I can fully appreciate Nan and her fun and games with the twins! As I looked back on the growth of my own daughter I was encouraged by reading the book, and Kayla enjoyed it too! Looking forward to the release of this relatable and enjoyable book! I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars!

Great Book...

I have read an Advanced Reading Copy of this book. I find it very refreshing and inspiring. It brought back such beautiful memories of my kids. Very relative and mind soothing. I can't wait for it to be published, so that I'll have the opportunity to read it to my grandchildren. I rate this book with 5 stars.

Giggles A Plenty!

I have read an Advanced Reading Copy of The Roper Twins: Bath-Time Battles with Nan. My own son is too old for this book so I read it to my 5 year old cousin and he loved it. Even though it is a children’s book I found it a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable read. Unexpectedly I found myself fondly remembering aspects of my own childhood. It was also very refreshing to see a multi-racial family represented. This is a book children can grow up with. The bright eye catching pictures and hidden shapes will hold their interest and create lots of talking points. Then as they get older they will want to read the book for themselves over and over again. I recommend this book both for adults to read aloud to children and for children to read for themselves as their reading ability develops. I rate this book with 5 stars.
